Also located on the reserve are the Turtle Back Zoo and the Richard J. Codey Area. There are picturesque views of New York City, Staten Island, and the Elizabeth Township.

There are also smaller parks located in the surrounding communities of Springfield and Short Hills. The parks in these towns include playgrounds, picnic areas, and fields that can be used for any sport. Some of the best-loved parks in the area include Gero Park, Hidden Valley Park, and Rahway River Park.

Maplewood is bordered to the south by Interstate 78 and the Garden State Parkway (toll road) to the east. There is also Route 22 and Interstate 278 nearby along with Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), which all allow for great travel opportunities.
